    Glock Advantage Arms .22LR conversion

I bought a used one that came with 4 mags and have run about 400 rounds of Remington Golden Bullet 36gr HPs thru it in local action .22LR matches. Other shooters who have had these kits say they did not run so good, but mine is 100%. Anyone else have experience with Advantage kits?

I don't remember where I read it, but I do remember a forum post showing a mod that would ensure 100% reliability with them. I had one a few years ago and it was not very reliable, difficult to clean, and it looked like the finish and some of the aluminum parts would wear easily.

My old man has one and it runs sweet. He did buy it used so it may have been “broken in” compared to a BNIB unit.

The only issue I had when I tried his out was loading the mags.

        I bought a 2nd hand one too.

        Mine rides a G20 frame.

No issues, except if I vary from the approved fodder list. Other than that - it runs just fine.

SAVED $3080 AMMO IN 6 MONTHS....
JUST SPRAY ANY 22LR AMMO WITH WD-40 TO LUBRICATE THEM IN THE MAG AND BARREL. JUNKEY AMMO, MORE WD-40.
          GOOD AMMO, LESS WD-40...

$6160 ESTIMATED SAVED IN 12 MONTHS ON COST OF $300 IS 2053% ANNUAL RETURN ON MY INVESTMENT...

400 rounds of GBs at 100%? That's awesome. Did you do any modifications to your kit?

I have one on a Glock 30. It is easy to clean and does not have many problems if you keep it clean, as in after every range trip. CCI seams to work better for me. I did polish the parts before I shot the pistol so can not say if it helped.

I have a G17/22 conversion unit (Edit - and now have a 1911 unit also, same comments for it). Works flawlessly on most of the .22LR in my inventory; the exceptions are Federal bulk (specifically warned by the manufacturer not to use anyway) and the really low-end stuff like Centurion. Keeping it clean and lubed helps.

I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Just spray any 22LR ammo with WD-40 and it will work in your AA converted Glock. Works in my Baby & Midsize Glocks....

Tried that, no worky. No great loss, either, since it runs just fine on Remington Golden Bullets and I have a substantial supply of them.

I have a AA conversion kit for a 1911 on a Commander frame, I probably have about 200 rounds through it. No problems with Remington or Federal bulk ammo from WalMart.
I wish spare mags were less expensive.
I also have a Ciener kit for Glock 17/22 that has been very reliable.

Love my G22 AA kit. About 500rds thru it and no issues. I only shoot CCI and Wolf MT thru it.

I have an AA conversion on my Glock 27. Only using the recommended CCI MiniMags. It runs pretty good for 20-30 rnds, then starts FTE & FTF about once every mag. Often when it FTFs it dents/damages/mangles the live round. That's not good with a rim fire round.
I check the link Jixer posted above and my mags have plenty of clearance.

I only have ~250 rnds through it but think that's well past any breakin period. Guess I could try the WD 40 trick above not crazy about doing that.

Any other tricks or tips for these?

My AA .22 conversion had a LOT of trouble with cheap ammo (American Eagle high velocity .22 cal LR, 40 gr solid, unjacketed.) Wouldn't feed, wouldn't eject, just wouldn't. It had me crazy. But when the Range master un-jammed it for the third time, he said maybe the slide didn't like the un-jacketed ammunition and better ammunition might work. He brought me what he thought would work, some that was fully jacketed, ( .22 cal CCI mini mag 22 LR 40 gr). It worked like a champ.

I don't know what kind of ammo you're using, but changing out to a fully jacketed round worked for me. They sold me 100 rounds for $ 8. That's higher than the ammo I was using, but it actually worked.
