    Marlin 25n or 925

    How's it Rimfirers?

I've looking to buy a bolt action rifle or a 22lr rifle and recently found out that Marlin makes a beautiful one that does both I already have a rifle (SKS) but I want a plinking gun. My problem is, I dont know where to look for these. Big 5 has them apparently but havent seen any. And also its the 925r which I dont want. How much do 925's go for usually?

If anyone could lead me in the right direction, I would be very thankful. Also any information on other bolt action 22lr's under 200 would be great. Thanks peoples.

25 and 925 are old models you will probably not find them on shelves unless they are used.
The model that has replaced those is the XT-22 which comes in many many differnt configurations ranging form magazine fed to tube fed. Wood stock to synthetic. Heavy barrel to light.

Varies by model but sub 200 usually.
They can be hard to find as they are less then a year old.

This page shows MSRP's to give you an idea

$200? Dang I was hoping for atleast a 150 msrp. I guess I'll have to find them used huh. For 200 I'd buy a 10/22 even then I don't want to spend that much for a plinker.

          Thanks for the help though.

Yea should be plenty out there used.

A year ago you could get a new Marlin 795 for 130 before tax and dros and then there was a 25$ rebate. But this year you are lucky to find them for 150-70

Find a pawn shop and pick up a Marlin 60 or 795. They're super accurate and relatively inexpensive. I'd buy these over a 10/22 any day.

I'll look into that. Still wish I was fast enough to pick up the ones on sale here.

There was a Marlin/Savage 21'' barrel, black synthetic stock .22lr bolt-action rifle on sale at around $199 at FV Turner's a few weeks back...I think they can sell it to you at that price if they still have it in stock.

Henry's lever action .22lr rifles are pretty cool too, can shoot .22short, .22l, .22lr iirc?

I was looking into Henry's when I really wanted an AR-7 and also lever actions but way out of my price range. Im looking to spend under $170 if possible. And I'm also fine with used rifles as long as they fire hahaha.

Hey West, did you end up picking up that Marlin?

I would recommend that you keep looking for a 925. I have one in 22Mag and its an MOA shooter @100yds when I do my part and that's with a 3-9x scope. I would think a used one in good shape would go for around $150 in .22lr.

I posted a WTB ad here, and got a really nice (and older) Marlin 60 for $90. Might try that route if you can wait for a deal to come by.

You might also consider the 883 and 982, 983 tube fed models.

I think I just might have to do that.

Nope, it'd burn a hole in my wallet. I did not buy it.

But today...I just bought a Marlin 60 tube-fed, 21'' barrel, with tech-sights(model 200) for $180.00 from a Calgunner here. The thing still looks in good shape...Can't wait to take it out
