Best scope for Marlin 60 under $100?? Also...Picatinny rail attachment worth it??

Hi all! I searched but just there were so many damn results, and none with exactly what I was looking for, so I appreciate your help!

Parents just retired and while cleaning we found my old Marlin 60 from over 15 years ago! She still looks brand new. Took her apart and did a real good cleaning now it's time to get her back in shape!

**Edit - I've searched and it looks like a 3-9x32mm is my best option... can anyone recommend the best scope under $100?

ALSO, DIP makes a Picatinny rail attachment should I get that, or just use the 3/8 dovetail rings to attach my scope??

    Thanks for the help!

That's a small elegant looking rifle and I wouldn't hang a great big 3-9x40 on it. Perhaps a Weaver RV7 2.5-7x28 (~$140) but not a big 40mm scope. Do yourself a huge favor and spend $20 more for a really good scope like a Weaver RV4 4x28 Rimfire - something that will last a lifetime and not overwhelm the rifle. I'd just use 3/8" rimfire rings and a set of Leupold Rifleman mounts is $15-20 at Walmart. Pick the lowest that will allow your scope to clear the barrel.

Yeah I've been looking into it and I'm also thinking a 40mm is to large for that rifle. I was thinking 32mm... but 28 might not be too small.

I'd suggest the Simmons 22Mag scope series.

        4x32

        3-9x32

        3-9x32 w/Adjustable Objective

I prefer the 3-9x32 with AO so can dial in the scope's focus as close as 10 feet or as far as I can see.

I suggest the DIP picatinny rail. For whatever reason the dovetail rings have a tendency to walk on the Model 60. I put the DIP rail on my Model 60 and its rock solid.

I have Simmons scopes on all of my .22s and they are the ticket for well under 100 bucks.
