    22/45 Magazine source

Well I am currently in the 10day waiting period for my 22/45 here in CA

I was wondering where you guys source your magazines from.

I am getting the MKIII model but I also know there is a MKII model

Can magazines be interchanged between the two generations?
I assume not as they produce two different options

I saw that Midwayusa is out of stock on MKIII mags but has MKII mags in stock

    here is the MKIII

Are there any Calguns sponsers that have these instock at a similar competitive price?

    Thank you for your help

As I understand it 22/45 MK2 magazines will work in an 22/45 MK3.
The MK3 has an extra hole cut it it that doesn't allow the magazine to be dropped while the trigger is held back and not reset.
Other then that they have different buttons on the side..

I have two 22/45 pistols; one a MK II and one a MK III. I spent some time examining the guns and magazines. The MK III magazine has a notch and a bump on its upper left front. The MK III trigger has a projection on its left rear. This trigger projection seems to engage the bump on the MK III magazine when the trigger is pulled, and prevent removal of the magazine until the trigger is released. It seems to make no contact at all with the MK II magazine. It appears completely unrelated to the magazine safety. The upper rear of the magazine (either one) pushes the MK III magazine safety upward when the magazine is inserted, allowing the sear to move forward when the trigger is pulled. The magazine safety acts on the sear in exactly the same way as does the manual safety - both prevent the sear from moving forward when engaged, thus preventing the sear from releasing the hammer. The only possible interaction I can see between the magazine safety bar and the trigger bar might be frictional from them lying side-by-side. I can see no other way for the magazine safety to affect trigger pull.

I am not a gunsmith, and only report observations made on my own guns. Yours may differ. I have not yet had the occasion to actually try interchanging the magazines and shooting the pistols, so cannot report whether they work.

Not to be confused that regular MK2 Mk3 (non 22/45) magazines are not interchangeable with 22/45 (MK2 Mk3) as they use different base pads.

Copes has MK3 mags's for a good price

btw get a McFadden Ultimate Clip Loader!

Get the ultimate clip loader as well. It's amazing how fast you can load the mags.
Less time loading mags = more time shooting.

Another vote for the UCL. Also, I'd get rid of the stupid magazine disconnect

BTW the Cope's price is good. I bought a couple mags from Midway when they had them in stock a couple weeks ago and paid the same price

Since you happen to live in Irvine and in case you didn't want to get mags off the internet which for the 2245 is often hard to find in stock, I would suggest On Target indoor shooting range. Might be a dollar or two more than online prices but no shipping no waiting. Plus you can just wait til your pick up date and go to On Target with your new gun to shoot and pick up some mags while youre there
