AMT 10/22 clone

I'm looking forward to getting my first semi auto .22lr. Now owning a couple of guns, I don't know why I didn't get one earlier. Anyways, I was planning on buying a 10/22 and while on the hunt I came across a heavy barrel 10/22 clone which was from AMT. Anybody have any experience with these.

No experience, I know the receiver is stainless, so its heavier. AMT was sued buy ruger and lost so they are rare and can cost more. Quality is said to be hit and miss.

Way back in the 90s, I was manager at a popular gunstore here in L.A.---the whole heavy barrel 10-22 thing was really starting to roll right about then---I took a brand new stainless 10-22 ans installed a Volquartsen kit on it---everything, fluted barrel, stock, trigger bits, everything---wonderful rifle---I still have it---amazing small groups---totally reliable. The store was approached by AMT with the idea of them offering complete stainless heavy-barrel rifles with all the bells and whistles. We said send us a couple of samples to try out as we had my rifle to compare it to---it took months until they finally got us a sample. Very disappointing---very rough, gritty feeling while cycling the action---VERY light trigger---too light as it turned out---the first time I test fired it, three rounds went downrange when I pulled the trigger once! They are no longer in production so parts probably don't exist---I would RUN in another direction!
