    I Need Help Identifying....

Im not sure what model this is. I'm visiting my grandmother and she had this in her closet I've convinced her to let me have it since she has no use for it. Im planning on restoring it, and keeping it as a heirloom.

It has very limited identifying marks on it. it obviously a stevens Im curious as to know what model it is and any other info in it would be greatly appriciated.

Also my grandma says she gaquired the rifle in the late 1950s from HER mother in law who owned it for a few years. She aquired it from a man she worked with who could of owned it for any number of years.

      Does it have much value?

I wanted to refinish the wood and metal because I figured it wasn't worth much and would make for a good gun smithing project.

Very similar to my Fathers Springfield Model 15 by Stevens. Single shot, short, long, and long rifle. Yours is mint compared to mine. I'd never change a single thing about mine. Great fun accurate shooter and a great training rifle for new shooters. Mines not worth a lot so I cleaned and oiled her up and enjoy it every time I take it out !

        My 2 cents.

This one has a tubeular mag, not sure how many rounds it holds though. This thing is decently beat up its just a photogenic rifle I suppose lol. I'd like to get it apart, clean and oil it but I don't want too just start pushing buttons and twisting knobs on such an old gun without doing a little research.

I'm really happy to have this rifle to get my little brother and sister some range time without shooting up all my .223 haha.

Looks kind of like an early Model 66. Does the magazine tube slide back and forth when you work the bolt?

It may very well be worth something. I'd probably find a local gunsmith who is capable of doing an appraisal to find out for sure.

Like everyone has said take it to see its value. Something like that would make a great family heirloom and to display. I have an old single shot Remington .22 short. I wanted to do the same thing but was talked into keeping it as is.

However, it would be really cool to get it in working condition to shoot it.

I will take it to a gunsmith during tge week. Its in pretty good condition considering the age. I bought some hoppes lube and 500 rnds of rem .22lr. I lubed it up and put 100-200 throigh it and she ran like a champ! Kinda fell in love with it haha.

Me, I would take it apart, clean it up and do like you did, shoot it. 0000 steel wool with some gun oil works wonders on light rust. Cool gun.

I did exactly that! lol. Last night stripped it all apart(that bolt is a b***h to get apart) cleaned every nook and cranny with some simple green and tooth brushes then oil and reassembled. Feels great now.
