Beretta Bobcat 21A .22lr Long Term Review & Range Report

I’ve owned my Beretta 21A Bobcat (.22LR) for years. Here’s a quick long-term range report:

Reliability: Can be finicky if you load mags carelessly. Make sure the top round is angled slightly upward — jams almost disappear when you do this.

Accuracy: At 10 yards with bulk ammo, groups were smaller than my hand. Not a tack-driver, but good enough for what it is.

Sights: Very tiny, hard to see with aging eyes. I painted mine white for better visibility.

Trigger: DA is long but smooth, SA is crisp and classic Beretta quality.

Durability: Mine has held up very well after years of shooting. Easy to clean, easy to maintain.

Fun Factor: High. If you can shoot this little mouse gun well, you can shoot anything.

Bottom line: quirky but reliable once you learn how to feed it. A fantastic little plinker and classic pocket pistol. If you see one at a good price, don’t hesitate.

I’ve had my Beretta 21a for quite a while too and my only complaint is that nothing but Stingers will cycle reliably. I have several other Beretta mouse guns and can appreciate their first class construction but if I were to carry a mouse it would be either my Seecamp .32 (which I did carry for about a year) or my Ruger LCP 2 in .22 LR. I really love that little sucker.

I shot mostly remington bulk pack ammo on this range trip and didn't have any issues, it will feed just about anything

The only rounds I consistently had issues with in my 21a were lead free 22, which isn't really surprising since I've never seen a semi auto pistol that can reliably cycle them. I painted my front site as well and found mine was pretty reasonably accurate. Surprisingly so since on first glance the sights appear to be barely in existence.

It was my personal favorite 22 pistol that I've owned, but it was yet another 22 pistol and had the least utility for me of my collection so it eventually sold to make room for other firearms. Every so often I consider finding another, but in the end I always give that up after a couple of weeks. Now if a deal fell into my lap I'd probably reconsider, but otherwise it'll always be a gun that I remember fondly but don't have a "use" for.

I also have a 21a in .25 ACP and it is a jewel that I would consider carrying.

Nice! I have two 950's in .25 and they're also very cool pews!
