I have a little person in my life (mini-mini 10/22)

The iteration of this little thing is my modification to make it as easy as possible for my little person (midget) kid. Yes, it's longer than the legal minimum. I did a version cut down to the minimum length and it was a total bust (way too short even for him).

Anyway, this one fits. Everything else is just bolt on upgrades to make shooting this as easy as possible.
    1) Kidd trigger group
    2) Extended mag release
    3) Sling shot bolt upgrade
    4) Extended bolt lock
    5) Optic Dot, so I can lazily say, just put the dot on the target.

The MAIN THING I'm going for here, is he has to 100% able to manipulate all aspects of firearms manual of arms if I'm to get my boys into the local 22 LR matches.

Before there was Polymer there was Accuracy.

I attempted something similar for my then 8yr old son. I found a 16" bbl and cut down the stock. What I found was the width of the wrist/pistol grip and forearm was still too much for him to handle. The weight at 5ish lbs was also on the heavy side for him to handle back then.

Safety and good habits are built upon a foundation of being able to handle the firearm comfortably.

With my daughter, I got a savage rascal which is specifically designed for a child. Weight is 2.5 lbs and all stock dimensions are sized with little hands in mind.

She also seemed to really enjoy manipulating the bolt and loading a round for each shot.

See comparison of 22 AR, modified 10/22 and savage rascal. All have ~11.5in length of pull as shown.

I like and appreciate those of us who are keeping the 2A alive by bringing young people into our culture. That is a neat project there, and one aspect of it that really shines is that you can easily replace the modified stock as they grow up.

Yes, we found that out too. The next modification will be honing down the width of the grip area.

I'll be upgrading the charging handle as well, and probably go with a reduced spring. Right now, his biggest challenge is charging it.

        *****

I bought some steel reactive targets, and up until the last range trip they HATED going to the range.

Last night I couldn't load (I load, don't want them touching lead) the magazines fast enough. They LOVED it............

My rule is you can shoot as fast as you can, but YOU CANNOT MISS.

Anyway, it would be a chore to get them to go through 50 rounds just shooting at paper, and we ended up finishing a bulk box of 500 easy peasey.
