    Ruger 10/.22 questions

hello everyone, so recently i purchased a Ruger 10/.22 as my first rifle. I've been shooting without a sling for sometime, and decided that its time to add one. I've looked at plenty of options for swivel attachemnts and find myself overwhelmed with how many there are. Can any of you make any suggestions as to which attachments you prefer and why? Feel free to chime in on any other upgrades you recommend as well. Thank you.

just buy a screw in swivel set, the ones that you can remove the sling quick and easy. Then there is just a little peice that sticks up a 1/4", the hogue rubber stock come with them, they work good, and i know companies make bipods that will attach to the same screw in peice, i have no experience with the bipods, but i know they exist.

Front and rear mounts at the bottom if you are using the original type stock.
For the wood stock you use the sling mounts that have a wood screw type end.
Uncle Mikes makes the quick disconnect fittings.

Uncle Mike's shown on the top row.

You can get a barrel band replacement one that has a sling stud on it it.

Or you can get the type of studs in the photo above and drill the stock before the band.

I think it depends on the kind of shooting you expect to be doing, but if you want what is in my opinion the most stable shooting platform for a very reasonable price then get the uncle mike's wood screw swivel set with the 1 1/4" sling swivels and a 2 point USMC target sling. Armalite sells them, and they are exactly what I used to use in the Marines for rifle qual. This setup (the sights shown are Tech Sights, model TSR 100) allows you to really have a rock solid shoting platform in any position. All I did was drill into the synthetic stock with a 1/8" screw and it seems to work perfectly now.

I'm sure youtube has some instructional videos on how to set up a military loop sling.

            Other upgrades to consider:

Hogue overmolded stock with swivel attachment points (I have this on my other 10/22 not shown)- $71
            Tech Sights, TSR 100 - $59
            Uncle Mike's Bolt Action-Wood Screw Type Swivel, #UM48 1 - $13.00
Ruger Trimags are good because you attach 3, 10 round mags together in a triangular fashion--Works great - $25

I think these are all good items that greatly increase the utility and fun of your rifle.

              ^^^ +1..

I went with the Uncle Mikes swivels and a Butler Creek sling. Just drill into the stock with a thin drill bit and finish screwing them in manually.
