I took 2 rimfire AR uppers for follow up testing today. A Bear Creek 22lr upper and a Bear Creek 22Mag upper.
I had previously tested the 22lr upper for function testing. This time was a scope sight in session. However, it continually short stroking. It turns out that the Bore Buddy Pressure Plug I had installed had clocked, slidden forward, and was preventing proper movement of the 22lr bolt. I discovered this when I had given up and was taking the upper off so I could switch to the 22Mag upper.
With the 22Mag upper I had previously managed 2 shots, because, when using the BCA supplied buffer and spring, the bolt would get stuck to the rear. I had to take the upper off to get the bolt to return.
After doing some research, I decided to try an H3 buffer, and an AR15 recoil spring. Plus, the Bore Buddy Pressure Plug, because the H3 buffer is shorter than the supplied BCA buffer.
I also changed the trigger from a single stage trigger and notched hammer, to a drop assembly.
Mods must have worked. I fired 20 shots, without any kind of a FTF.
This thing is very accurate. 3 shot cloverleaves, with the holes touching at 50 yds off the bench. I’m very impressed.
Unfortunately, I grabbed the wrong ammo. I was using CCI Green. So, the next step is try different ammos.
