Winchester 52D...finally mounted a scope and took it to the range

Finally put a scope on my new 52D and shot it. I was shooting in a 50y match today and used my newer 40X. After the match I sighted in the new 52D and did some ammo testing

    A few groups @ 50Y.

Looks good OP. Nice shooting. Motivates me to get my Win 75 scoped, so I can find out what it can do. Haven't had it long, nor got around to even picking out a scope for it. Is that a Tasco? Also, whose rail mount is that? Love these old rimfire.

It is a Tasco. An older Japan made 36X world class target scope.

A few months back I glommed a 24X Japanese Tasco target scope. I was very favorably impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the scope as well as its ability to hold and return to zero. Since then I've been keeping my eye out for the Japanese made Tasco scopes. I recently glommed a 36x44...

The mount is a Vianni style mount made by Brian Norman.

Mounting aTasco on a 52 is like hanging dingle bald on a Porsche… just kidding, I think you’ll be stocking up on Eley Red Box. Have you tried Wolf match target?

Normally I would agree with you about Tasco, but this is an older 36X target model made in Japan. It is generally agreed that the Japanese Tasco's were made by Light Optic Works (LOW) or Hakko, both of whom are quality optical shops. At any rate, shooting the .22lr's at 50 and 100 yard doesn't seem to tax the scopes much. I did just stock up on the Eley Tenex red box.

I got the scope for $100 at a recent estate auction. It has been mounted, but is in great shape and even came with the original Midway receipt.

Makes me want to get out my Win 75 and start shooting it. Someone at some point for some reason cut the barrel down, so there's little collector value, but it still shoots fantastic. I've killed many flies with it, squirting some bbq sauce on a sheet of cardboard and setting up 25 or so yards away and waiting. Haven't had it out in a while though.

I have tried Wolf match target extra. It shoots pretty fair, but my rifles seem to like Eley better

Just messing Mustang. That tasco does it’s job well for a 29 year old. Very nice rifle.

LOL, No worries., I took it in the vein that you intended.

I've kinda gotten on a Japan made Tasco kick. I've got several 24X target scopes and a couple of 6-24x variables. All Tasco and all made in Japan. They have pretty good optics and are excellent at holding and returning to zero. And cheap. I've also got a couple of Taiwan made Tasco's and they aren't bad either.Of course, none of them stack up against my March, but for 50 and 100 yard .22 lr they work well

Something similar, albeit less spectacular, occurred today. I hauled out my 78-year-old Remington 521T .22 target rifle that I purchased about a decade ago for practically nothing because I learned to shoot on a virtually identical rifle 65-plus years ago. I had only shot it once or twice and it has been standing in my gun closet for years but for some reason I thought it needed some exercise so off to the range I went, along with a container mixed ammo, several different brands and at least two different velocities. The rifle, almost as old as I am, the Lyman peep sight and my aged eyes did pretty well, as this 25-yard target, with just one flier, attests. I need to shoot it more.
