Anyone Use An Airsoft Chassis For a 1o/22 Conversion Clone?

Hi Gunners,

I've slid back in my rifle tinkering. I'd like to build a few 10/22 based rifles into clones. I've got a Scott Werks Fungun Gangster Thompson, Muzzlelite bull pup and missed the boat on a MG42 kit years ago when those were around. I've got a Garand, C96 (long barrel with butt) and an AK47 inbound to try and cobble somethings together. Looking at what's available, I see some chassis are just wrong for mag placement, like an MP40, but a M3 Grease gun should be close. Many airsoft gun are metal, which helps with the fab work, and they can be found cheap. The 3 coming were just over a hunnerd bucks and I've an extra 10/22 and sightless barrel to get them dialed in until each one gets its own barreled action. An MG42 is definitely going to happen at some point. Anyone else mess around like this? PAX

There was a poster on here at CGN several years ago who made several .22 guns using airsoft bodies.
He used 10/22s and sometimes Marlin 60 since the 60 had a smaller receiver that would fit better inside some models.
He used epoxy and fillers to mate the receivers to the airsoft bodies, he had to dremel out the insides of some to get the receivers to fit.

Thanks, if you ever get the message center to function, send me your contact info I lost. I'm going to try and stick with the 10/22 because I have a mountain of mags,10, 15, 25 and GRG drums, and the barrel swaps are easy. I do have Glenfield 75s but they're tube fed. For the AK coming I need a barrel with no sights, which I've seen floating around. I'm really hot for an MG42 and there's some static metal replicas that aren't too $pendy so there's likely used around. The MG kits have gone missing like your setup. Be well my friend, PAX

Thanks for the link. I had thought about using 10/22 only, but looking at my Garand, a tube fed Marlin would be more aligned with an M1s appearance with the mag tube substituting for the gas tube. I have M60 & M75 Marlin/Glenfield to experiment with. PAX

Nice, I think you posted it before. I have a store-bought kit that my boy wanted, a Muzzlite. He shot it very well and could one hand it like a pistol. The Cyma AK showed up yesterday and I found a 16." 10/22 barrel that will fit the bill. PAX
