ruger sr22 pistol mag release button loose when magazine inserted?

I just got my SR22 out of jail today.

I was playing with it and noticed the mag release button is loose when a mag is inserted.

There is lots of play moving side to side.

    Is that typical???

Mine has definite tension. It easily moves when pressed, but is sufficiently tight that it does not rattle or move when shook or fired.

Mine has a bit of play side to side with a mag in, but not without. I have no issue with that due to the way it's designed. All of the spring tension goes to keeping the magazine latched in place rather than just sitting on a stop. Too bad about your slide issue. I seem to have gotten a good one.
