    CZ 455 - 1907 sling question

I just got a CZ-455 Lux and am looking to get a sling for it. Right now, i'm thinking to get the uncle mike sling swivels (1 1/4) to go with a Turner national match (1907) sling. Few questions:

    1) Turner offers the sling in several lengths (50, 52, 54, 56, 58). What length do i need? I'm 6 foot if that helps.

    2) My rifle is new and pretty (hope to keep it pretty as long as i can ). Will the sling hardware/clips (i think they're called frogs) damage the stock?

    3) Any suggestions/comments about this combo? Should i be looking at a different sling? I thought the slings were used to hold heavier rifles. Just wondering if its overkill for the cz.

I don't know how to use the 1907 sling. I was hoping to learn following instructions online then maybe try out an appleseed. Thanks for the help!

Theres a good set of starting instructions about how to set up and use the 1907 sling on the Turners webpage.

I grabbed the standard length (52 I think?) and it was actually a bit long for my Savage MkII. If all else fails though, you can always trim the excess -- can't add leather.

Also, for appleseed -- seriously consider grabbing the cotton (or synthetic if thats your thing) web sling. Until you're quite comfortable with the 1907, you'll be fighting it to adjust for the different positions.

Don't know anything about that sling but I just did an appleseed this weekend and everyone who had the standard USGI sling mentioned above had it easy. The couple of people with leather slings had a hard time adjusting them, specially if they were new.

Frogs have not damaged the stock on mine. I'm roughly 5-11, 6-0 myself, I get by with a standard sling.

No overkill, I like the 1907 over the web because it doesnt feel like a tourniquet.

Here is a pic of mine

I have set up "Army" style here, but have since changed it to the USMC sling style, just a personal preference.

You can see the USMC style on this sling of my Enfield.

To learn how to use the sling, you can read the Army field manual that covers it, or you can find vids on Youtube.

        Also, try here:

One final note, I have never used a Turner saddlery sling so I don't know what they're like. The one I have on my CZ is a repro sling that was super stiff and impossible to use. I ended up breaking it in by working it with some "baseball mitt oil". Saddle soap will also help.

PM me if you have more questions.
