    CZ 457

    I picked up a CZ457 American in 22 lr.

I need to mount a scope on it.

    What rings would you use?

    Thanks

    Howdy from Sacramento!

I put Talley rings on my CZ452. Easy, and rock solid. I did rely upon this thread in the rimfire forums to help inform my decision:

Hi guys, I just got a CZ 457 and it has an 11mm dovetail rail on it. Any recommended scope rings I should use to mount it? I’m putting a scope with a 1in tube and 40mm objective on it. I’m not sure what my prince range is....I’ll pay more if it means I’m getting a quality set of rings but...

I put a Leupold VX Freedom 3-9 x 33 EFR (1" tube ) on my 452. I ordered the burris signature rimfire rings in medium and high, and these Talley rings:

The Talley rings fit beautifully and I returned the Burris rings.

    Good luck!

What scope do you want to mount? The size of the scope can impact the rings you want to use. Also for very large target scopes you may want to fit a dovetail to pic rail converter to give you more options for scopes with ability to move the scope more forward and also add elevation options on the pic rail.

Basically pick the scope and then look for rings.

Here's a thread, also depends on what you want the rifle to do... Rimfire scope for CZ 457 Varmint - Calguns.net
I'll be shooting at the ranges around here in SoCal (San Gabriel Valley-ish/ Inland Empire). I've never owned a .22 rifle before. Not sure on the magnification needed for the ranges around here. I'm looking for quality scope that matches or exceeds the quality of the 457. Any particular brand and model you like? I also recommend the Talley rings. My 452 American has the same Leupold 3x9x33 as Strafer mentions above and this combo has been amazing for accuracy.

I like having Picatinny rails on my rifles if possible. It makes it easier to swap optics between rifles, and it fits more accessories, like Red Dots with integrated mounts. It also doesn't hurt to have the extra height for clearance, and you can get some extra MOA for long-distance if you need it. I use DIP adapters, because they are simple and streamlined, Area 419 is another brand I hear about a lot.

Thanks guy for all of the info.

I've been kinda busy, That's why I havent replied.

I don't know what scope to put on it. I am thinking of some thing like a 6x24 power ......maybe more magnification.

              Take care

I use BKL rings. Have both a 1" and 30mm set for the 455 varmint. They are well thought out 17mm rail rings that can hold heavier (~25oz) scopes securely. The current, keeper setup is a Sightron s1h-tac 4-12x42 in .774" high rings.

I use an area 419 rail with a 15 moa cant, with Vortex rings mounting a Viper PST Gen1. Works great.

OP, if you’re looking for that much magnification, check out Athlon scopes. Just mounted one on my CZ AT-ONE using an Area 419 15 moa rail and Warne 30 mm low rings. Very happy with this setup. Wide range of reticles to choose from as well, which is what kinda drew me in with their product. I usually only buy Leupold, but of course at those magnifications its way more money.

I have a few CZ rifles and I find their dovetail to be a PITA when it comes to flexibility and ease of use. I put a DIP Scope Mount on all my 457s to keep it simple. I like the added height too. As far as rings go, pick your scope first, and then worry about the rings. The CZ is wicked accurate, so 4-12x magnification is a good fit. I would check out the Rimfire Central forum for CZ-specific queries. The CZ subform there is particularly active.

                        +1 on the DIP rail.

I used one on my BRNO #4 rifle and am entirely satisfied.
