Eight Year Old and a Crickett

This is my grandson with his Crickett rifle at 25 yards up in Bee Canyon last month.







When we were done shooting, we picked up the trash left by others too!

That is good shooting. I gave a Crickett to my daughter, who is 8, and we have not even started to try to get groups yet.

I bought Cricketts for all three grandkids, but the other two aren't quite ready yet. One is pink.

I also bought each one a 10/22 last year when Turners had a sale. I was able to get consecutive serial numbers too. The oldest has shot his, but it is still a little big for him. He prefers his Crickett over the 10/22 or any other gun I have. He works it totally by himself, and he hits what he aims at. He really loves shooting steel plates, but then again, who doesn't? A hundred rounds will last him a while too.

That is good shooting. I gave a Crickett to my daughter, who is 8, and we have not even started to try to get groups yet.

The bipod helped a lot. They have trouble keeping the front of the rifle steady at that age. The scope helped a lot too in understanding the sight picture. He shoots iron sights much better now than he did last year, too.

If they arent hitting things, they get frustrated quickly and it isn't as much fun for them. He shoots my M&P 15-22 pretty well, but likes the Crickett better. It fits him the best.

His shooting really improved when we found out he was left eye dominant and he kept trying to shoulder the rifle on his left side. When I switched him to full lefty, the improvement was dramatic.

He loves shooting prone, but one of the ranges we go to he can only shoot off the bench. He's spending a month with us this summer, so I'm hoping to get a lot of range time in while he is here.

I'm hoping his sister is ready to be a good listener so she can go to the range. That pink Crickett needs to be fired.

I'll have to try the bipod. The iron sights on the Crickett are lacking so I put a 2.5X Leupold scope on my daughter's rifle. I am thinking of cutting off a few inches on the stock so it will fit her better, but I need to check the overall lenght first to avoid running afoul of the statute on minimum length. The cost of a new plastic stock is only around $35.00. I have found the rifle to be accurate. I could consistently hit shotgun shell at 25 yards with this rifle.
