Found My 10/22 Unicorns...BUT

While at my summer seasonal gig in Southern Idaho, I ran across not one but two rifles that have been on my list for decades, Ruger International 10/22. One, a black laminate, looked as new, was in a shop listed for $410 but the LGS wasn't on the Kali DOJ approved list. The other was a standard wood stocked rifle on consignment listed at SKS bank, $575, good condition but obvious signs of use, so I passed om that guy. I'll try to beat him down. I'm still after a Ruger M96 .22LR, PAX

Did you ask them if they would consider signing up with the CA DOJ?
It takes about 5 minutes for them to sign up online. And another 5 minutes to create the shipping letter.

I know the process is free and easy but many out of state LGS won't put up with what they consider an infringement. Many simply won't do business in/with Kali. I've run up against that attitude in 6 or 7 states. PAX

I think it's worth asking the question for a gun you really want.
I've asked a few times on gunbroker and been successful.

My impression is that many sellers on gunbroker don't know how easy it is. They just see a bunch of others that won't ship to CA, so they just follow what they've read or heard.

Some will change their mind, some won't.

It was an LGS (gun shop): Question: "Do you ship to Kali FFLs?" Response: "We're not registered with their DOJ". Pretty obvious they know what to do, they just won't do it. I don't know if you've delt with out of state gun folks face to face out of state before, but many people hate Californians and wouldn't put their brakes on if you stepped off a curb. From a private party is very easy to ship to your Kali 01 FFL, you only need a copy of pictured ID and phone number, but that can even get screwed up. Some Kali FFLs will only accept from another FFL. Kinda the same deal as a "Delayed Delivery-undetermined" after 30 days. That can be released to buyer but some shops return to seller or inventory. You're not changing anyone's mind about perception or store policy. PAX

I completely understand that a lot of out of state FFLs don't want anything to with CA's ridiculous unconstitutional requirements, or even with Californians.
If I ever make it out of this state, I plan on living someplace temporarily so I can get rid of my CA DL & license plates. Then I will move to my final destination, showing up like I wasn't from CA.
