    Keyhole combo

A couple of months ago I picked up 2,100 rounds of Remington Thunderbolt at a gun show for $120 and have been shooting it ever since in a variety of semiautos ranging from S&W Model 41 target pistol to a tiny Ruger LCP II and had no complaints. It functioned well through multiple visits to the range. I had a couple of hundred rounds left this week so fed it into a Walther P22 and about three-fourths of the shots were keyholes. I know some folks don't like the Walther but I have a later version and it's worked flawlessly for several years. It's really a nifty little gun. I cleaned the gun and returned to the range today to see if that made a difference. The Thunderbolts were still keyholing so I tried them in a recently acquired S&W Victory and they ran perfectly. I then fed the Walther some CCI Mini-Mags and they ran perfectly. I'm, assuming it was just something about that particular ammo and that particular handgun. I shot up the rest of the Thunderbolt in my Victory and closed the door on that quirky situation. You never know.

That is the worst .22lr I have ever used. Check your barrels for leading.

Hmm, I don't think I've ever shot a .22 at an actual target. Only cans and such.

Most ammo manufacturers have a low grade .22 LR, and Remington's Thunderbolts are one of them. They serve a purpose.

I'll add to my post above that if you want accuracy, there is ammo out there that will perform.
