I have the MK II also, fantastic little .22 with accuracy that should cost a lot more. Mine came with a plastic stock and williams fiber optic sights (firesights?)
only problem Ive had is FTE when dirty and my bolt knob is a little loose. Idk how to tighten it up but ive shot so many bricks of ammo through the rifle i can see how these things might have happened.

edit. Oh and I LOVE the Accutrigger. Its amazing. Best trigger Ive ever pulled in any gun.

$229 is an ok price, not a steal. I think I purchased a MK II G for either $175 or $200 at Sportsmen's Warehouse in Rocklin a year or so ago.

The wood looks nice, but the grip is so thick that it's quite hard to shoot offhand. Maybe the synthetic stock is better in that regard.

I just sold my nephew this exact gun that I won in a tournament. It sat in my safe for 4 years until he came of age. We went out this morning for the first time and boy is it accurate. However, with the bulk Winchester holllow points from Wall Mart, we did experience some jams. So make sure you get round tips.

I have a MKII. It's a great shooting accurate rifle. I got the bull barrel model with the accutrigger used for a little more money. With good ammo it shoots under an inch at 50 yards.

I have a Mark IIG. I've only been out with it once. I am a new shooter so it's my only gun until tomorrow. My son and I had a blast with it. We went through about 200 rounds of the Federal bulk stuff and had no issues whatsoever with it. We were both able to shoot well enough with it our first time out to qualify for the first level of the NRA Marksmanship Light Rifle program and came close to the score needed for the next level using just the iron sights.

We like the bolt action because it slows us down and forces us to take our time setting up the shot.

Paid the same price for it too... $229. We're very happy.

BUT while out there we discovered my son is left-eye dominant so I may need to get another one in the lefty version! Aw shoot... ;-)

I ordered mine from my LGS. The only trouble we have had with it was the stock screw coming loose. But once we knew what to look for, it has been fine. We topped it with a Mag22 3x9. Mine came with a 10 round magazine, but I also ordered a 5 rounder so it does not stick out so far when prone.

I just used the standard rings that came with the Simmons Mag 22, but needed to remove the rear sight. It is a press on, so I just knocked it out.

the savage mark 2 heavy barrel with accu-trig is one of the finest 22 rifles made today. no matter what the price. others might be cute and have bling, that does not impress me at all.

Funny you would say that... I almost bought the Savage 64F on sale at Bass Pro Shops for $119 today. As I was standing at the counter looking at it, I decided that it would be silly to have this gun and my IIG when I could just save up a little more money and get a Mark II with a heavy barrel...
