    Madd Macs MK4 Carbine

Pretty cool new ultralight carbine based on Ruger MK4 action.

Less than 3 pounds, maybe the best ultralight .22 lr rifle available right now?!

You have to supply your own MK4 grip frame, but those are available for a few bucks.

Convert your Ruger MKIV lower into an ultra-lightweight rimfire rifle with the MaddMacs MK4 Carbine upper assembly. Features an AR15 buffer tube attachment.

So.... about $1400~$1500 all-in to do what a 10/22 can already do but probably better and with more aftermarket support?

I have not seen a 10/22 or any quality semiauto .22 rifle that weights 2 and 1/2 pounds.

More like $400 if you can believe these prices:

I have bought a couple complete MKIV pistols in the low $300's.

The problem with rifles that light is that they are harder to hold still.

My 5lb M&P15-22 even feels too light compared to an aluminum receivered AR22 build.
My Armalite AR7 with an AR pistol grip and a metal collapsible stock is ridiculously light at 3lb 0oz with an empty mag in it.

There definitely is such a thing as "too light".
