    Tech Sights for Ruger 10/22?

How many people have put these on their 10/22's? Do they improve your "accuracy"? The only review I've seen that was any good was nutnfacncy's but I don't always agree with his reviews. He mentioned that in low light, you can lose the front bead. Has anyone experienced this?

    For those who don't know

    Thanks

I have the TSR-100. Don't know where he gets "losing the front bead" in low light. The Tech front sight is a plain post.

The Tech Sights are great. The only problem was fitting the front sight. It likes to loosen up & fall out. The front sight didn't even come close to fitting the dovetail. If you don't mind a gap just LocTite the setscrew & call it good. I used some JB Weld & did some filing & fitting to fill the gap but I'm kinda OCD.

They adjust just like the M-16 & other military sights. IMO a huge improvement over the stock 10/22 sights.

Another way to improve accuracy is to ditch the barrel band. My groups shrunk about 50%.

The sights that come with the 10/22 are pretty awful. If you want some nice military-type iron sights get the tech sights. Not much to it other than that.

Personally my front dovetail was really tight - it was a giant pain getting the existing sight out and I had to tap the techsight in with a punch. Clearly Ruger's a little random with how they cut those. Basically you won't know what you have until you try to remove the existing one.

I have a set of the TSR-100 on my 10-22. I love the sights as I'm use to Military type sights(M-16).

The only problem I had with the sights is the rear sight. I could not adjust for windage because the windage drum wouldn't move. A good dose of WD-40, coaxing with the tip of a nail plus a little time and it was lose enough to move.

I searched high and low for what distance to zero in these sights but I had no luck as a lot of people suggested a 25 yd zero or a 50 yd zero. Since I was zeroing my M4 Carbine at 25 meters, I zeroed at 25 meters for short range and the long range sight was automatically set for 100 yds(YMMV). With my old eyes at 100 yds I was hitting a 4 inch circle. That's more than enough accuracy for me. If I needed more accuracy, I'd use a scope.

I don't shoot in low light conditions so I can't help you there. FWIW, when I was in the Army, we wouldn't use the peep sights at night. We'd line up the sights on the target and aim over the sights.

The Tech Sight are nice iron sights, and a great improvement over the stock set. I recommend getting the adjustment tool.

Strange that Ruger seems to make various sizes of dove tails, hope I have a tight one.

Easy to install. I'm able to keep my head up instead of tilted to the side. Get the sight adjustment tools. There are 2 different front post heights. IIRC, each click is 5/8" at 100 yds. Just a little over half minute per click.

I bought the TSR-100 and and an AR sight tool. Front sight fit perfect, easy install directions too. I was lucky and did not need to adjust at all and they were dead on at 25 yards. I would say buy them, lots of fun to shoot the 10/22 now.

                      1) The larger sight radius helps aim more precisely
                      2) Peep sights are a great improvement on open sights
                      3) Relatively inexpensive

You probably won't believe what you can do (until you do it) with these on your rifle.

I have several sets of them and they are great for the price. My rifles with Tech-sights have literally thousands of rounds (easily 10+) through them and face adjustment almost weekly. The only problems I've had really have nothing to do with the sights themselves. Somebody stripped one of the mounting screws (drill and re-tap). If you use the hooded peep late day shadows really start to mess with you. Other than that I'd say they give people a great alternative to the stock sights.
