Using a bipod leg as a monopod

ive been eyeing some monopods out there but they cost like $70-$100+ for that little thing. i was thinking of using an existing bipod and use one of the legs as a monopod for my L96 stock

i can drill a hole through the body and use a long bolt to hold it and then use some JB weld or epoxy as added support

bipod cost me like $20. if i can pull it off, i can use this for two of my stocks. $130-$180 savings (if i were to buy 2 real monopods)

    yay or nay?

this is what my bipod looks like. although i have the smaller version. its adjustable up to 1 inch

If you really want a monopod on the cheap, a stubby VFG with an adjustable furniture leg(the ones you thread in and out for length) would do it. Hell, I've seen retailers sell exactly that as a monopod before.

Since you're only using these for a .22lr, you can get away with something from Home Depot and a little creativity. The actual monopod image(the 2nd one) is for a Barret M82A1.
