I think it's a perfect all around stock, feels solid and not too light or heavy. I like the adjustability of the cheek weld and pull with just adding spacers or larger cheek pieces. Mine replaced a factory DSP stock that I opened up to handle 0.92 barrel. I recommend it.

I got the Magpul hunter stock mainly for the easiest, cleanest way to add stock length and cheek height adjustments for an Appleseed rifle. You can mod a stock wood/plastic factory stock, but it looks and feels janky.
It's not going to be the most rigid stock if you intend to bed the action and barrel, but for ergonomics it's a big improvement.

My older Kidd 10/22 came with a Hogue Overmold stock. When it was hot out, I found that the barrel no longer free-floated when I used a support near the end of the stock. Recently replaced it with a Magpul Hunter X and very pleased with the results.

Using The Magpul is the easiest way to increase the length of pull or adding comb height for scope use. Not the easiest stock to bed the action, however much much better than the stock plastic one.

I use both the Magpul SGA stock for my 870 and the Hunter X-22 stock for my 10/22. The check risers are interchagegable so I needed to purchase just one set for my use. No complaints whatsoever with either stock.

I was going to get a Magpul stock for my 10/22, but a lightly used Midwest Industries chassis and forend became available to me. I think I payed around $100 for it. It's a great system. But not worth the brand new price.

Had one on my 1022. Nice feel but on the heavy side if carrying all day get a sling.

                    Hopefully this isn't considered a thread-jack...

I have twoHunter X22 stocks that I got second-hand at different times. One has the the std and bull shims depending on what barrel is used, and the set screw that adjusts through the bottom (via M-LOK opening)...the other does not, and that version is not on MagPul's website. Anyone know what's up with that? Maybe the one without that feature is a "Gen 1" or something?

PS - to the OP, Yes, the stocks are worth it. once installed, it feels like new rifle - very handy, ergos are good...

Another fan here. The Hunter X22 is a solid, all-around synthetic stock at a bargain price. It's can be fit to the user, has fittings, QD support, and M-Lok in all the right places, and it has a practical ergonomic shape. I also like the colors and the additional Magpul accessories that match the chassis and make it easy to carry. I much prefer this stock to most Boyds laminated stocks. I'd recommend the X22 to anyone with a factory 10/22. I only wish it came in a CZ457 version too.
