    FN Browning Trombone s/n search

Looking for manufacture date (or appropriate www site) for a Fabrique Nationale Browning Trombone .22 pump.

I estimate it is from the 30s, but Browning's site doesn't have records (destroyed?). Anyone out there have a link to a good database?

    thanks!!

    s/n is 36XXX

Dean, they were made from 1922 to 1974, with somewhere around 150,000 made, and there is no database for pre 1958 rifles.
Forgot to add, pretty rare to find one in the states, and that is some purty wood on that rifle!

TRAP55 - I've had a lot of fun researching some of dad's old guns passed to me, and have been pretty successful dating most everything else including his 1st rifle, a .22 single shot that was originally selling for like $5 in Sears type catalogs with an ad that stated something like "you shouldn't deprive your boy of a gun like this"! Can you imagine that today...in California? LOL

anyway - I'm pretty sure this Trombone came into Dad's possession when he was a teen in Canada, thus my ballpark on the date (and to your point about being rare in states).....and I'm sure this rifle dispatched hundreds of rabbits and ground hogs, but you could never tell by looking at it. Found a guy in Australia that had an owners manual (in French) for it who emailed me a copy!

I appreciate your response - that seems to align with my own search. Maybe I'll try the C&R board - never can tell

Had a friend of a friend bring me one that was having feeding/extraction problems. Cleaned out a soup spoon full of crud, it must have had a million rounds through it, and it still made one hole groups!
Only one I've ever seen, and had hands on. Owner had inherited it from his grandfather, who had bought it in Canada too.
I could only find the owners manual in French too, people print these out and sell them on the auctions to the gullible.

You might try contacting FN, and see what they have, but will most likely be a dead end or someone would have it by now.
