    First shots with Savage 64FXP...

I finally had the chance for some trigger time. I took the new 64FX out today to try her out. Just hit an indoor range here so I could try some reloads I made for my pistols too.

I think it shoots pretty well. I was shooting standing/offhand tried a few different types of ammo (CCI Stingers, Rem Thunderbolt, AE 36gr HP, and Win Super-X 36gr HP). They all pretty much were hitting the same spots, I had a hard time focusing on the front sight. I don't know if its my eyes getting old or the lighting (lack of) in the range.

Here's a photo of one of the targets. Head shot group = Me and the center mass shots were my girlfriend shooting it. She did pretty well for having not shot since she was a kid.

I can't wait to try this rifle out on the rimfire match posted here!

    Thanks for reading....Steve

Looks like a fun couple of groups. (See what I did there?) Shooting is so much fun with friends.

i love shooting 22s, i hope my EGO does not get in the way. i do not hunt or shoot over 50 yards. tell me i need a high powered rifle to do what i like to do. i also picked up a big 5 64 on sale. it joins my mossberg tactical 22 and my savage FV. i figure it cost me about .05c to shoot my 22s. my bud does not own a gun that the ammo costs less than a buck a shot. i wonder why he does not go out shooting often ?

Thanks! I only took the one mag, but it fed just fine. Had one round that would not feed, but the bullet in that one was loose in the case.

I had a 64fxp and I had to trade it in for a Marlin, the Savage was jamming every other round, I tried every single .22 round available with no avail. I bought it at Big5 and they were nice enough to let me return it and exchange it for the the Marlin 795. That is awesome that yours feed well.

              Nice shooting.

got a new 64 , it loves bulk federal ammo. no jams . no problems. cheep fun. i put a 60 dollar center point scope on it, with a home grown cammo paint job it looks like a 500 dollar rifle.

                  Nice!

Seriously though....sounds good. What did you paint yours with? I'm still thinking about mounting a red dot sight on mine. Great little rifle though, I am happy!
