    Which one?

Finally convinced the wifey to green light another purchase after pointing out the benefits of cheap 22 ammo compared with my 9mm or going trap shooting. Thing is I have to keep it under $300. Saw the new Turner's ad and what do we have, S&W 22a and Heritage Rough Rider with 6.5" barrel.

The Heritage looks like fun but the 22A plus a scope seems as much fun. Any suggestions?

Ask her for a little more money and buy a ruger sr22p. I think they were selling them for $299, but then there is tax and dros, so you need $50 or so more. That's my .02.

While not as well made as the Ruger single six/ten people seem to like them and I haven't heard too many complaints. If I recall correctly some of the S&W 22a's can be picky about ammo. Have you considered a Ruger 22/45? Most will eat any .22 ammo and they should last a lifetime and a half. Turner's frequently has them on sale for about $270.

Just picked one up from Turners tonight for $349 ($407 total).

They only received 300 units, so get em while they last!

Just got 500 rounds of 9mm and a flat of 12ga shells, so unfortunately I'm stuck at under $300. I've been to my local places that sell used but haven't found anything in my price range.

Guess the price of the sr22p is higher now? No inflation though. Unemployment just dropped to 8% so I guess we are nearing full employment for this new hope & change economy. We should probably give the administration another term to complete the transition because we have to vote them in before we can tell if their system might work. Just like we have to vote in a bill so we can see what is in it. Makes perfect sense. o Garcia 02 hurry up and make a choice while the money is available, otherwise the price may go up and you will have to save for a couple of more years to buy one. When in doubt, go with S&W. Resale is better due to name recognition. We all have our bias here, for me I would invest more money and get a Ruger Sr22P, Mark III or 22/45. Browning Buckmark is another great one. I would watch this forum and find one used for less rather than settle.

As already mentioned, save bit more and get a Mark III, 22/45, buckmark or SR22p. I have a 22/45 and an SR22p and while the SR22p is a lot of fun, the 22/45 is more accurate.
