    Ultra Light .22LR AR Barrels

Here is the first pictures of TACOM3G's new 17" Ultra Light .22 AR barrels.
Weighs in at a little over 1 lb.
Research from years of bench rest shooting, the 17" will provide the best accuracy for a .22 Match round.
The barrels have a steel liner-1/16 twist. The liner is a tension fit inside the barrel shroud. The shroud is vented as you can see with the holes in the end cap along with vent holes in the rear of the shroud. This will provide a venting system for heat.
I'm going to do an ongoing review of this set up. I will hopefully have an experimental carbon fiber/polymer upper to mount the barrel in.
The collar will be provided with the barrel and will work with any Atchinson type bolt-CMMG, Spikes, Target Master, Ceiner.

Should be very cool and will definetly be light weight.

Mind telling this how much this barrel set you back?

Trying for super ultralight AR build?

Aren't match rifles hefty in weight for better balance? I remember shot a target anschutz in high school and remarked, why such a heavy rifle for a puny little round!

These are directed towards 3 gun shooters.
The goal is a complete .22 AR that weighs in about 4 lbs.

Projected price on uppers minus the bolt will be under $300.
Down the line, there will be a barrel with extended threads for comps and suppressors.
Tim has been the Senior engineer for some well know manufacturers and has decided to go on his own where he has the freedom to produce his own designs.
You have already bought several of his designs over the past 20 years.
        Now it's his time.

I'm really looking forward to this

I won't be offering them threaded, however, once I get settled in......I will offer them at some point (6 months??)

They actually are coming in at 14 ounces.....shooting well too.

I did put them on the websote last night, if you wanted to read more about them.

            First 50 barrels are done.
Tim is reporting 1 ragged hole at 30 yards with Wolf MT.
I'll be testing one soon and posting results.

I cant wait to see what else you can come up with... Maybe even a CF upper receiver? ---Of course, I wondered if friction would become a problem...

For some reason I had a hard time finding the link to buy the new barrel (it's listed on the right side of the homepage under "NEW PRODUCTS")... Anyway, here's a direct link:

                TACCOM3G's Ultra Light Weight 17" .22LR Barrel

Once I found the link I put one on order... I'm very excited to put this in one of my .22LR setups and give it a try. I suggest anyone who's been looking for a super light weight .22LR barrel, order one of these up before they're all gone.

He has a Carbon Fiber/Polymer upper receiver I'll be testing out. It's rated for 5.56 so .22 should be no problem.

Damn!! I need one of those too :P

I was going to pull the barrel off of an existing upper to put this new one in... But I actually just decided to order another stripped upper (actually I ordered two... A regular flat top and a slick side)... So, I'll be building a completely new upper.

I'm thinking that a sub 3 pound AR15 in 22LR is gonna be next to impossible, that is, on a real AR15 Lower.

However....I submit this, on a Plumb Crazy Lower and a Carbon Fiber Impregnated upper (3 pounds 4.75 ounces empty)....with a CMORE

That looks good, but you could save off about 6oz with a normal slick side upper... As for the Plumcrazy lower... Thats only what, about 8oz lighter than a normal aluminum receiver (been along time since i've weighed them)...

If you can do a CF or polymer upper that's slick sided, you WILL drop even more weight. If you really want to do a sub 3lb AR15 in .22LR with a normal aluminum receiver... you CAN do it, I'm sure of it.

It is a polymer upper.....I think the only thing left to do is to remove the FA and dust cover.

I've not measured the CMORE.....but maybe without that, the FA and DC, the rifle may touch 3#

I mean.....then the only thing metal will be the bolt assy and barrel (and springs). Everything else is polymer or Carbon Fiber.

I actually kinda like the Plumb Crazy lower.....it works.

                              Still too fat! JK.
Burris fastfire red dots would shave another few ounces.

Btw, how hot does the barrel warm up? Could you forgo the hand guard?
