    Simmons 3-9x32 or 40

Looking to buy a Simmons scope for my Ruger 10/22. Either gonna go with the Simmons 3-9x32 or 40.

The x40 is little more money and has "Truplex" (whatever that means) and the x32 is cheaper with no Truplex. Any reason to go with one over the other?

Use would be anywhere from 25 yards out to a little past 100 yards.

I have a simmons 4x32 on my marlin 795 and my 10/22 take down too. I like the 4x32 and for the money is really good. I'm upgrading my optics to a leopold 3x9x40. PM me if your interested $30 shipped w/ rings.

All the Truplex means is that the reticle is a little skinnier in the middle. The differences in the two scopes are the distance where the parallax is set. The 3x9x40 is a centerfire scope which is set to 100 yards and is built a bit tougher to withstand the recoil. The other is probably the 22 mag series and has the parallax set at 50 yards which is more in line to what most people shoot with a rimfire. The other difference is price. The 22 mag series are a bit less.

Personally, I have a Mag 22 4x on my 10/22 and am very happy with it. I also have the Mag 22 3x9 AO on a Savage MKII and extremely happy with it. IMHO, I am not sure the AO is worth the few dollars extra because now that I have it set, it never gets moved.

Since I did not plan on moving the scopes off of the 22's, the Mag series were fine for me. If you expect to move the scope to a centerfire rifle in the future, then get one of the centerfire scopes and skip the Mags.

Best thing to do is to go to a store that has them both and try them out. Whichever you get will be fine for your 10/22.

        Hey all,
I have the Simmons 3-9x40. Its a great scope for the money. One sits on my h001 and the true duplex is very clear. I think i paid only $50 for it with rings.

I enjoy my Simmons .22MAG 3-9x32! I think based on the wider range of distances you plan on shooting at, an AO scope would be best. Either that, or just go with the rimfire scope and have the 50 yard setting.

Since you have the x40, what height scope rings should I get?

Am waiting 6 more days for my Ruger 10/22 takedown and have already ordered the 3-9X40...any suggestions for a good bi-pod for this particular weapon?

Whatever works and has the features (if any) you want. I bought the China Winchester one from Wal-Mart. Works just fine. You can get another Chinese one: UTG. Then there's the Made in USA Harris bipods. You'll need to buy a stud kit though as well.

                      Hey all,

This is my first post, have been lurking these forums for a couple months now. Anyways, my dad has the 3-9x32 on his Sig522 and it is a great scope for the money. I have the Simmons ProTarget 3-9x40 scope on my 10/22. It's a nice scope with the side adjustable parallax setting, but it's alot more pricier. My suggestion, for whichever scope you decide, is to ditch the scope rail ruger provides and get the Weaver 430T base. It's alot more sturdier and it's like $7 on amazon. As far as rings go you may need low or medium rings. I got mine from walmart

If i remember correctly it came with them. If it didnt any medium rings would do just fine.

I've got a Simmon 4x32 fixed. Its the Blazer/8-Points model. Mounted it on my Marlin 795 and works great for under $30.

                              i purchased a simmons 8-point 3-9x40 for my Remington 552 speedmaster

i hit clay pigeons at 75 yards first shot all day long this scope is amazing!

it didn't come with the rings however (my rings cost almost as much as the scope) but i am pretty sure the blazer series does.

for the price you cant beat it.
