What Mod Would You Do To The 10/22

I have read many posts on mods like soft buffer pin, extractor, quick release. Read many more posts saying don't fool with the gun just leave it alone.

My question is if you were going to do some mods to the 10/22 TD what would be the first mod and what are the must do mods and why?

I don't regret burning some bridges. I regret that some people weren't on those bridges when I burnt them!

The automatic bolt release is what I would have thought to see several people post up. I am surprised nobody has mentioned it.

the best upgrade i did to my 10/22 was a nicer trigger.

Auto Bolt for sure. It sucks to have to release with your left hand at the same time as the right. Here is a pic of mine while I was doing it. The left is the factory VQ part you can buy, the right is the factory Ruger one and the middle is the factory one I modified. I wasn't quite done yet, but you can see all you have to do is grind out the nub and oval the hole a little more. Now my bolt closes once you pull the bolt back slightly. Nice! and all it cost was time.

Already looking at the auto bolt release, and stocks... What else does everyone recommend?

For convenience, I started with the bolt release. I also added a Power Custom extended mag release because mine is early 70's vintage with the PITA flush mag release. Also added a Volq extractor for reliability. Most recently, I stoned the hammer to lighten the trigger pull a bit and save cash for a real trigger assembly later. OP post your budget and I'm sure you'll get some good info on low budget, near stock builds to high dollar trick stuff.

All I upgraded on mine was a VQ hammer and an auto bolt release

It's a huge difference compared to the stock trigger. Now my 10/22 sits in an Archangel Marauder g36c body..

+1. Those two parts are money well spent. It will improve the function of the rifle considerably.
