    Savage 64FXP is home!

After waiting what seemed like ages I was able to bring it home. I admit the scope does not fit this rifle but im sure i can find a good place for it on one of my air rifles. I cant wait to get this to the range and see what it likes.

So far mine has eaten everything I have fed it (bulk federal, CCI minimag RN and HP, Remington, Wolf and Wichester).

The only advice I have is: it likes transimission fluid for lube, taking it apart to clean is kind of a pain.... so don't clean it unless it stops working reliably and last but not least, load and unload the mag a few times before you go to the range. The last 2 rounds are a b**** to shove in there when the mag is new

Thats good to know. Ive massed a collection of ammo i plan on trying. A few folks love the new wolf match and i just might buy a box to try too.
When i broke in my new mags for my 93fvss i needed to do the same thing about loading and unloading it befor the range. I just wish i could find a few mags in some local shops. Oh well with any luck I'll get to the range tomorrow for a run in.

good luck finding those mags anywhere

The places online that constantly have them in stock are also the places selling them for $20 or more

I am waiting for midway to have them in stock again

                  Nice Savage...

Congrats too on your new Savage. It looks very similar to my 64 TRR-SR model. glad to hear that it likes a variaty of bullet brands and styles. mine appears to hate hollow points. Have you ever tried Aquila super Max? it's a 30 grain and the description states 1750 FPS... i'm curious to see how they perform.

I havent tried those yet but most i feed it today did well. I might have even found a rifle that likes cci stinger, short range green and even the dreaded winchester lead free tin! Nothing i have ever had like the winchester tin. Maybe this will be the ultimate squirrel gun!

the big 5 i saw them at was in Daly City CA, just south of San Francisco. They stock the most crap because they sell the most firearms in the whole chain. Reason is easy because that store serves the San Francisco market, since there are no gun stores in San Francisco. I havent been there since San Bruno opened in December cuz its closer to home.

                          Thanks busta00.
I found a store in milpitas that has them for $20. Unless that big5 has them for $10 then I'll get them down here. That does stink that there are no stores in SF. Oh well more for me

I picked up two mags for the 64 at the Big 5 in Cerritos yesterday. They were $16.99. I think there were two left after I bought mine. They are kind of hidden behind the gun counter to the left. Right next to the 10/22 mags.
