I got my new to me (used) Savage MKII out of jail today. I picked up a brick of Remington thunderbolt and headed to the local indoor 25 yrd rifle range.
The only reason I bought the thunderbolt was because it was mid range price wise. I think I wasted that money oh well.
Oh yeah I bought a Bushnel 3-9X49 and mounted that up at the gun store.
I got out on my lane and got going. First impressions are the MKII is small and a bit cramped for me. I'm sure I can fix that with a butt pad.
The rifle ran flawlessly with zero FTF, FTE or non fires.
Not sure on the trigger, this is a used rifle and not the accutrigger model.
The trigger had zero take up and I'm not used to that. I tjink that caused some trigger jerk. Once it broke though it was fairly smooth and suprised me.
I fired 50 rounds of the remington ammo before I decided to put it back in the bag. Very little consistency so I bagged it and tried some ammo I had, mixed brands of CCiI minimag and another brand. Sorry i dont remember what it was. Seeing how I was doing better with the mix I went out front and bought a box of 50 CCI Velocitor.
Pretty consistant, but I still need to try a few other brands to find the one the MKII likes.
Anyway long winded report to get to these.
These are my best for the trip. I went out to the max of 73 feet. getto bench rest sitting a too low office chair. I'm not to impressed with my shooting, all shooter error. I got a little better at the end with the 3 in 1 hole on the top pic. Total rounds for the night about 150.
