    HK MP5 A5 .2lr Optic Mount

Anyone know of a budget priced optic mount for an HK MP5 .22lr that requires no modification? I can't justify spending $100 for the MFI mount. I've read some people using a mount by Classic Army (airsoft) but I am not sure if it fits without any modification. Has anyone tried this mount and does it fit perfectly right out of the box?

Mine is in the mail. I have to work a bunch of OT this week (helps pay for the rifle) but I'll try to mount it and let you know how it works.

The Classic Army mount fit real nice and mounted tight on the reciever. The problem I found the top wasn't wide enough so when you mounted a optic it wouldn't secure tight and would move.

Thanks @turbopower! I was planning on mounting a Primary Arms micro red dot on it. Hopefully it doesn't wiggle too much. I read this combo cowitnesses perfectly with the HK irons. What kind of optic did you mount on yours? @raceday, I'm curious to see how it worked out for you. LMK. Thanks!

Elph, I am using the exact same combo you are proposing-- PA micro dot on top of the Classic Mount. Great combo! Mount is a 5-10 minute install, back off the screws, slide it on, and then tighten. The PA fit the rail just fine for me. Sorry to hear that turbo had some issues. PA micro cowitnessed well with the irons. I didn't do exact checking but it looks like it is a lower 1/3 cowitness. The optic is starting to restrict the view when you use the irons but it is great when you raise your cheek weld because the front sight does not obstruct FOV when using the red dot. I've typically used absolute cowitness but really appreciated a lower cowitness.

I shot 520 rounds today! I was just rapidly going from target to target making quick acquisitions and then hitting. I was going to stop after a couple hundred rounds but I was having too much fun. So I said 50 more and then another 50 more and before I knew it all my ammo was gone.

The only mod I am thinking of making is seeing if black Sharpie will cover up the Classic Arms logo on the mount.

@raceday Thanks for the great info! I'm glad everything worked out for you. If you didn't have any issues after 520 rds then I'm definitely going to go with the PA micro and CA mount combo. I'll plan on ordering the riser and AD mount for the PA micro as well as the CA mount so that I can switch it between the HK MP5 .22lr and my AR15. A lower 1/3 cowitness was another thing I was hoping to get with this combo. It sounds like you were able to achieve this on your setup.

A black sharpie will work as the CA mount is only $20 vs. $100 for the MFI or Umarex mount! At least you didn't have to take a dremel to the mount to get it to fit!

@Elph, up to 770 rounds and mount is rock solid. If you get the Primary micro+mount combo, I think you can save a couple bucks on shipping ordering from ebay. I bought from the website which was an extra couple bucks. Oh noes!

@raceday that's great to hear! Im going to order the PA with the AD mount and riser based on your update. I'm gonna head out to a local shop here in San Diego to grab the CA mount. Thanks for eBay tip. I haven't bought much from eBay for a while but now I have a reason too.

Update: Okay, so I got the PA micro dot and the short CA mount going. Unfortunately, it didn't cowitness with the rear and front irons the way a BT mount and aimpoint does. I tried the longer CA mount but the RDS didn't sit snugly enough. I also tried the UTG mount for sh*ts and giggles. The UTG had a nice finish but I wasn't able to get it on. I went back to the CA mount which has a crappy finish but fit perfectly. I decided to put on the ADT QD riser so that I could easily swap it with my AR15 .223 when I shoot close distances.

I put hundreds of rounds through this gun with no FTF or FTE. This is by far one of my favorite guns to shoot. The PA RDS is sharp and is as close to an aimpoint as you can get. Plus Marshall at PA is the real deal. Their customer service is second to none!
