Was out with my sons new 455 set up with the 17 barrel this weekend.
Was having a minor issue with plastic tipped 17 grain Horandy's feeding into the breech. Seemed to have one of two conditions happen, either sticking a bit on the ramp or pushing up and snagging the neck on the top side going into the breech. Could possibly have been magazine seating issue, but I attempted to look at that.
Rounds went in smoothly if I put my finger on them to hold it centered into the breech.
How much polishing can be done in these spots (12 & 6 O'Clock on the breech) without creating an issue with rim seating? Don't imagine I would be creating a dimpled rim and getting cases stuck, but could use some guidance.
The system (Bolt, ramp, breech) works fine when I have the 22LR barrel in, I was running Blazers with rounded nose, that fed nicely and shot pretty good. (My son was pasting a 6" steel at 100 Yds, 5 for 5 every magazine he loaded)
Once in, the 17 grain 17 HMR were incredible to shoot.
