How to make your GSG 1911 shoot all ammo (even crap) with 100% success!

So, Ive had the typical FTE, FTFeed, Stovepipe conundrum with cheap ammo (Winchester, Federal etc)... after frustrating 500 rounds or so and 3 cleanings I was fed up. For my next cleaning I field stripped the gun and found the root cause of the issue.

I made a video talking about the gun, disassembly, cleaning etc, as well as what I did. Its a long video, so if you dont want to watch the whole thing skip to about 25 minute mark.

Hope this is helpful to those that are frustrated like I was with this gun. My last range trip I shot 250 rounds (Federal Blue box, Federal Red Box, CCI Blazer, Winchester X) with 100% success. Prior to doing this Winchesters had 100% fail to eject rate, not one would eject... if I shot 100, then all 100 would not eject. With Federal red box I had about 50% fire properly others would either stovepipe or fail to feed).

Sorry for the long video, hope it is helpful

I've tried at least 8 different .22 rounds in my My GSG 1911 and it shoots pretty much everything as it came from the box. When I have time I'll watch the video.

I'm interested to see what you have to say.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

No problem Hope you dont have issues in the first place, but if you do be sure to check the video out

I also talk about disassembly, and things in general I like to use with the gun (like eyes and ears and snapcap substitutes etc)..

I completely disassemble the gun, polish and smooth out all the critical areas that parts interact with each other, then apply oil and grease to all the appropriate places before I take it to the range. Now after more than 2k rounds later the gun is still going strong. I need to completely strip it down again for detail cleaning again soon.

Mine only has a few FTF because I didn't load the ammo properly in the mag and a few light strike lately indicated that I need to clean the firing pin channel. I believe proper maintenance of the gun is essential since 22LR leaves a lot of gunk behind. The residue is also very gritty so cleaning is a must.

My gsg1911 was sent in for warranty after only one week in my possession, there was a defect in the rifling of the barrel.

When I sent it in, the gun would fire remington, winchester, and federal bulk ammo. When I got it back with a new barrel, it fails to extract on nearly every shot.

extractor and spring are in good shape and when i stripped it down to clean it after the range trip there was no build up that would impair extractor function.

after a failure to extract I would have to use my pocket knife to pry the spent casing out. and it took some actual force to pry out every casing that was stuck.

my best conclusion is that the new barrel ATI installed in my gun is crap. called them up and told them to send me a replacement barrel. they are on backorder so who knows when I will get it.

When I get the time i will watch your video and apply what I see to my gsg1911. I'll report back with my results.

Call Nate @ ATI, he's a good guy. He might be able to speed up the process for you. It pay's off to be nice to people who can be of assistance down the road Anyway, try him at 800 290-0065..or try his inside line (585) 783-3198.

                  Good luck!

Actually your description is very similar to what was happening to every Winchester round I fired. They would get stuck, and some would take some force to get out (I used 45ACP spent casing to pry it out). So maybe you should check out the video and try doing what I did... now all of them fire perfectly.

Geez, mine has 850 or so rounds of Blazer HV through it. It had one failure to cycle when brand new. A couple of months ago I had a failure to fire which was probably just the .22 ammo (not uncommon for rimfire). Yesterday had one failure to feed which had to be cleared by hand, this was due to my not inserting the magazine fully and not the weapons fault :-( I lube it just like a regular 1911, nothing more, nothing less.

Same as above, clean and lube after every outing. 1000+ rounds no issues. I only have run Blazer thru it since day one.

For those of us stuck with slower internet connections a written summary of the changes would be nice; i.e. "tuned extractor, polished chamber, polished feed ramp" etc.. And no I haven't downloaded the video was just using the above as examples.
