Colt Cadet Problems - Swollen Cases

I am posting for a friend who has major problems with his well used Colt Cadet 22 rimfire pistol. For a while it was stove-piping which he somehow fixed, but he says some of the spent cases are "pregnant" or swollen compared to an unfired case. Maybe I am wrong, but this has mean the case is under pressure while it is out of the chamber. ??? The gun has a lot of rounds through it and the owner says well cleaned. What might be happening?

Most likely it is a problem with the chamber. I would have it checked by a gunsmith. If it has had a lot of rounds thru it it's possible the chamber is out of spec. If the gun fired out of battery then its more likely the cases would be ruptured, not just swollen.
