Help installing front sight SIG 522

Once I got the front sight flush with the left side of the gas block, I just kept turning the sight screw, essentially pulling the front sight into the center of the gas block. If I remember correctly, I held a punch in the hole where the sight screw pin goes while turning the sight screw with a hex wrench. There were a lot of scary noises when "pulling" the front sight to center, but in the end it did no damage and got it to where it needed to be.

my crappy punch immediately snapped off I'll go buy a good set tomorrow.

It seems like its on the verge of breaking when I turn the screw but your explanation makes 1000x more sense than anything else I've found.

Thank you! I can actually go to sleep now knowing I have hope to install this thing.

Please update when you are done. Seriously looking to buy a 522 this week.

Just don't be stubborn and impatient like me with crappy tools and a lack of a good work area. I gave my gas block's nice anodized finished a small chip near the sight. Hate myself a little more now.

          Will update after work tonight.

Hmm you said pulling, do you insert the sight screw from left to right through the flush side then tighten from there? (felt VERY resistant).

You say 'pulled' sight to middle of block so it sounds like it would go in the right side..

              Iron + scope?

After you dial in the iron sights are you going to put a scope on as well? I put my front sight on and am afraid it will get damaged if I try to take it off so I am looking for mounts to clear the front sight. I am just getting back into shooting so I am doing research on this. Any help would be great.

I punched the sight back off I just couldn't get it centered. Broke 2 punches trying.

Ordered a $32 Tasco red dot to go on until (or if) I replace handguard with a rail and get a mbus set.

I think the Tasco sits high enough to clear rear sight and be seen through front hood or you can try the 40mm one.
