SR-22 hammer contacting slide

when I rack the slide, half way it hits the hammer. even when the hammer is cocked back, I feel friction. is this normal? dont remember it being like this on my 1911.

btw my sr-22 is the "old" one with "pistol" written on the slide. haven't shot it yet

I would loctite the barrel screw in your gun. just find the right allen wrench and remove the barrel screw and put it back in with loctite. just in case. ive heard people who say their barrel came loose after extensive use. also i would pay attention to which way you put the spring on the guide rod. it cam be only on one way. one end is narrower and the other end of the spring is fatter. if u have the spring on the guide wrong it can potentially harm the gun. i dried fired mine with an empty magazine a lot and after a few days it felt loosed up. and finally to answer your initial question: yes that is normal for your slide to hit the hammer even when it is cocked back. mine does it too.

That is perfectly normal! that is how the hammer gets cocked, also does not matter if your SR22 has the word PISTOL written on the side!

Finally shot it. Very minor ftf with red bulk. Perfect with minimags. Trigger and reset aren't as good as 22/45 but for a "modern/tactical" 22, this is very very very nice. P22 and mosquito have NOTHING on this pistol. I can see this replacing the Mk series

It's a good pistol, seems to be a winner for Ruger. But I can't see it replacing my 22/45.
