Slide wear on Ruger SR22

Put about 300 rounds of Federal bulk in my SR22 with a few instances of FTE's and FTL's. I've practiced my way down to tight 3" groupings at 7yd. Fun little plinker!

However, I've noticed it's developing some serious slide wear after minimal use. I did a search on Google, and it appears that the slide stop lever is the culprit where it could be either 1) when I'm pushing up on the lever while racking the slide to lock it (all the while scraping the slide) or 2) when the lever is engaged to lock the slide after firing the last round. Going forward, I'll try my best to eliminate hypothesis #1 to see if the slide wear worsens. If it starts to look really gnarly, I might have to send Ruger an email

Thought I'd share some info for those who either own one or those contemplating on owning one.

Sounds like the Copy cat has some of the same
traits that a WALTHER P22 has...

I've never shot a P22, so I'll take your word for it

I figure any semi auto where you pit an aluminum slide against a steel slide lock/release lever you have a good chance of premature slide wear.

I'll have to really study where exactly on the lever the slide is making contact and perhaps sand/smooth that area to decrease friction a bit.

My GSG is doing that so now I am a little more careful when I release and manually lock the slide.

My SR22 only have a little mark (barely) after 630 rounds.

My SR22P has some slide abrasion along the inner edge. I am keeping an eye on it but it is not visible from the outside of the gun, does not affect functionality, and does not seem to be getting worse. If these three conditions continue, I am OK with it. Otherwise back to Ruger, which I do not anticipate. I've put 850 rounds through her with more to come, and the gun shoots great.

My p22 doesn't have wear that bad, it does have little marks from the "ears" but nothing like, thats not a good sign for the highly toted "better" ruger copycat

Put another 300 rounds through the gun this weekend, and the slide abrasion is exactly the same. So I am going to chalk it up to ordinary wear-in, where parts moving against each other must wear in together. If I turn out to be wrong, Ruger will fix it; no doubt of that.

I just believe its all normal slide wear. After all it is an aluminum slide. It looks like the black paint is starting to rub off but it looks just like cosmetic wear to me. No issued as to the function and reliability of the gun as of yet anyway. and i got about 1000 rounds through mine in the last two days.
