SIG 522 mags ...9 round ?

I have 2 Sig 522 10 round mags I got at Big-5 a few weeks ago...
they hold 10 rounds just fine and work well....but

I went back to Big-5 today and got 2 more Sig 522 10 round mags (box was marked the same as the 1st set of mags)....but

no matter how I try...I can only get 9 rounds in the set of newer mags...
it looks like the followers are taller then the 1st set...is this something new , as in the the new mags are 9 + 1 instead of 10 + 1...

I'm going to return the 2nd set , as I don't want 2 mags that hold 10 rounds and 2 mags that only hold 9...........

has anyone else run in to this ?

Who is the manufacturer of the magazines?

I have a Sig 522 and I have 5 of the Black Dog 10 rounders, all of which accept 10 rounds fine.

The mag that came with my 522 was sig branded BDM mag and it fits exactly ten. All my other BDM mags are the newer gen, steel feed lip kind and function just as well.

I have one as well, the box says 10 rounds but it only accept 9 rounds, the follower is way taller compared to my other Black Dog magazines, maybe needs to call SIG or Black Dog.

I just got off the phone with SigSauer customer service , asked them if there was a change in the 10 round magazines , and why do they only hold 9 rounds , aaahhh...welll , it could be a magazine spring , maybe its in backwards....we don't sell mag parts (asked about new followers) and subcontract the making of them out to a few Co's......just take them back and get other magazines.........

now to be fair....the guy on the phone was polite...but bottom line was...sorry , we don't make the magazines , and could not say as to why they only held 9 rounds when they are marked 10 rd.

guess I'll return them and get some "other" magazines

The thing is that this magazines are originally 15 rounders modified to only accept 10 rounds for CA compliant, but with the taller follower it now accepts only 9 rounds, how about calling Black Dog magazine?

My advice: return the magazines to Big 5 and buy them from 44mag.com and save some cash.

Looks like out of spec follower. I recommend the steel lipped models. 44mag.com has them for 15 a piece. The plastic lips will wear out over time and you'll get FTF etc. mine did that and had to trash them due to the beginning to split apart.

I got hold of customer service at Black Dog magazines by e-mail...told them I did not need mags with different round counts....can you help ? the Lady I talked to asked for my address and that they would send me 2 of the "non bolt hold open style followers"...free.... and that would bring my mags back up to 10 rounds......

great customer service ! I'm very pleased and will be keeping there product... +1 for "BlackDog Magazines"
