    New Henry Frontier Today

Just picked this up today. Henry Frontier Lever Action with Octogon barrell in .22lr. Will also shoot shorts and longs. Added a rear Tang sight for an increased sight radius and better sight picture. Guns cycles like butter and fit/finish is excellent. Walnut stock.

I gave it a quick cleaning at my range and shot 25 rounds to make sure it funtioned/fired properly before driving 50 miles back home. I suck with iron sights but with this rifle it seems I can do pretty well. Didn't have a target set up so just shot at pieces of clay pidgeons @ 50 yds and was hitting 2 out of 3. Installed the Tang sight after I got home but haven't shot it with those yet. Should help with my accuracy. I think she's a winner.

That thing looks great! I must have missed that model, I had only been looking at Henry Golden boys.

Congrats. I love my H001. I bought it just to tag ground squirrels with because it would shoot the .22 long cb. Using those i can get a clean shot around 20 yards and nobowhas a cluse it wasnt a pellet gun. Lol. Enjoy

Izzy, beautiful gun! My wife and I were looking at these last saturday[Old Town Trading Post, Old Town, ME] and I couldn't get her to buy one. She wanted the brass receiver model. I think that unit is great looking. Gonna hunt with it?

Lot of folks just strip the paint off of the receiver cover and polish it, same with the barrel band. Not a Golden Boy but a Silver Sherrif. By the way the Golden Boy receiver is not really brass, its some special treatment they do with a brass tinted top coat.

Only gonna hunt chickens, pigs and rams (all steel ones) with it as well as clays and golf balls. Not really into hunting as in Kalifornia its a pita.

Grats, Henry makes a fine product. One of those rifles that works no matter what. That and the action is so smooth.

The tang sight is a Taurus Tang Sight M62/73, Model 5-6273. Also need new bolts for the tang which I got from MidwayUSA.com, Marbles Improved Tang Peep sight screw set #6 Blue ($6). Midway product # 818346. I also got a dovetail blank to fill in the dovetail where the front sight is removed to give it a more finished look, but not necessary. It is Midway product # 383424 ($6).

I purchased the Taurus sight from a rimfirecentral.com member. Taurus does not make them any more but a search on the web may find them. The sight is adjustable for elevation and windage. Good fit and finish, seems to be a quality sight. Paid $55.
