    10/22 Bullpup?

I'm about to buy a 10/22 (or two), and one of the ideas I have is to change it out with a bullpup style stock. I found one for 10/22s at bullpupgunstocks.com. The overall length for it is 26.5", and I know rimfire rifles aren't covered under the AW ban. Does anyone know of any reason a bullpup 10/22 would be illegal in California?

Also, if you have a better idea on a better bullpup for the 10/22, let me know.

No, a bullpup 10/22 isn't illegal in CA. You're correct that the AW laws don't apply to rimfire rifles so all you really need to worry about is the barrel being longer than 16" and the OAL being longer than 26".

One thing I would point out that could be an issue, is using standard ruger 10 round magazines with that stock might be a PITA to load and unload since they mount flush. It would probably be easier to hand some 10/25 magazines(like blocking off some 25 round butler creek mag kits or something) so you actually have a magazine to handle.

the bottom bullpup stock is a muzzelite which has crappy thin plastic. i paid about $70 used for it. it normally retails for $150 new
im going to chop off that huge handle and put a longer rail on it

J Bunting Machine makes a very high quality bullpup for the 10-22 out of machined aluminum. Linky...

I got on his waiting list last December, said I was #90sumthing. Its gotten nothing but positive reviews from everyone. Only downside is the price.

That looks good, but damn that's expensive when you start adding options.

Be sure to use a 18" barrel with that kit to make the 26" minimum.

I do sell a lot of my dummy stick magazine extensions to guys who build bullpups and ARs out of 10/22s....they give the length needed to get the mag in and out easily.
It's on the Accessories page of my website link below.

GREAT! Thanks for all the info. The only stocks I had found were the crappy plastic one. Those machined ones from wix look like they'll be the way to go.

Is it plastic? And for him making $300+ off each sale I'd expect better quality than 240p on the install videos...
