Question on threaded barrels compensators

Hey guys I have two questions for you. I did some reading online and I found a lot of mixed answers and I was hoping I could get the correct answer followed by proof that it is legal. I want to make some upgrades for my 10/22.

First question. I want to get a new tactical solutions threaded barrel for my 10/22. Like I said I have heard mixed answers regarding the legality of threaded barrels on rifles.

Second question. I would like to get a Tactical Solutions compensator for the barrel. I know that compensators are not even necessary for 22's but it's more for cosmetic looks than function. Just love the way they look. Are compensators legal? And are they also a muzzle brake/flash suppressor? This is quite confusing.

Threaded barrels on rifles are not regulated in California. They used to be regulated on semi-auto detachable magazine rifles under the old Federal assault weapon ban that expired back in 2004.

Compensators are legal on 10/22s as well.

a compensator, normally, has a hole very near the size of the OD of the bullet to force the back pressure thru the holes/slots, in a different direction, in the compensator, to relieve the recoil; a flash hider is mostly 'open'.

except for hi (more than 10 round) cap, detachable, mags, overall length and barrel length, rimfire are exempt from AW rules.

So even if I plan to upgrade my stock with a pistol grip like the taco intrafuse or Troy t22 I will be okay cause it's a rimfire and no need for a bullet button?

As long as the bbl is 16"+ and the overall length is 26" it's OK. Under that, you run afoul of the NFA short rifle definition.

Only the centerfire rifles need to be 30" OAL and have a fixed magazine if they have a "pistol grip."
