Strange .22

I picked this up in a trade recently, appears to be homemade. It will chamber a .22 LR but when I tried to fire it the firing pin spring is too weak to even dimple the cartridge rim.

Anybody seen anything like it?

I wouldn't try to shoot the thing if you have no idea what it is. Good way to hurt yourself.
