Newb CMMG problem?

hi, i recently bought a new cmmg evo upper and took it to the range today for the first time. for the first few magazines (blackdog) everything shot fine. then i started getting multiple jams with every magazine. finally a bullet with casing got stuck pointing up in the bolt carrier. my wife popped out the bolt carrier & charging handle to get the stuck ammo out....now i cant get it to fit back in and stay properly. it wont go back in all the way. any ideas on what i am doing wrong?
oh yea, i have a smooth hammer, and was shooting federal target grade & winchester brass hollow points.

A couple things here.
If the round popped straight up from the mag, it sound like the mag feed lips are out of spec. Black Dog did have some with issues.
They will exchange them.
I would suggest buzzing the chamber with a .22 bore brush chucked in a drill with oil on it for 1 minute. Stay out of the rifling.
It will clean and smooth the chamber.
Check the collar(round part on the end of the BCG and make sure it is properly snapped to the rail.
Slide the BCG in until it snaps to the barrel. It is held by a spring detent built into the collar.
