    Dedicated upper vs 22lr rifle.

Background to this question is I own a M&P 15-22 and in 3 days I will have the lower to assemble my first .223/5.56 AR. I have been toying around with the idea of just grabbing a second lower and putting together an AR with a dedicated 22lr upper. If I did this I would probably end up selling my 15-22. My question is how do the reasonably priced dedicated uppers ($350-450 range) stack up against dedicated 22lr black rifles (15-22, sig 522, etc) as far as accuracy and reliability. There is nothing wrong with my 15-22, it has been a great rifle, I can get decent(for me) groups at 100 yards with it. And 50-100 yards is where I typically shoot with it and would be looking to do the same with a 22lr AR. I would probably be better off sticking with the 15-22 (already have it/paid for, used to shooting it) but I figure it never hurts to look at my other options.
