Need solution for Ruger MkIII 22/45 rear sight walking.

Guys need some help. My Ruger MkIII 22/45, the rear sight drifts/walks to the right after about 15-20 rounds. I have tightened down the screw that's holds it in place, but it still moves. Any suggestions??

Will the sight move after you have tightened down the screw, or is it secure until you fire some rounds? If it will move after tightening, but before firing, you mave have a short screw (?).

I had a similar problem with adjustable sights on a 1911, but it only occured after firing when the slide got warm/hot. I fixed my problem with a very small drop of blue loc-tite on each of the two set screws. Apparently once it warmed up, the screws would losen a bit during firing.

Remove the screw or back it out to expose enough threads for the loc-tite, add a small drop of loc-tite to the threads, and re-install/tighten the screw. To get a small drop without washing the whole thing in loc-tite, use a straight pin. Put a little l-t on the shaft of the pin and and let the drop run to the point, then touch the pin point to the threads to transfer a tiny bit of l-t.

I agree blue loc-tite should work fine

On some models there is a pin that will work its way out. I had this problem and called Ruger. They instructed me to put a slight bend in the pin and drive it back in. I haven't had that problem since.

Call Ruger Customer Service. They will help.

I have the same problem with my mkIII, blue loctite helped a lot (don't forget to shake the bottle).

If it's the tiny rear sight pivot pin that tends to poke its way out, just do what I did. I pulled it out, rubbed a little blue loctite on the PIN, reinserted it, and BAM. Never had that issue again. It it's your blade that's moving, I dunno.

yeah i did the little bit of medium strength thread locker and it stopped being a problem
