    925 mags?...help

I recently gave my Gf my first rifle which was a 925 marlin .22 bolt. The 7 shot mag is kinda a bummer though, she likes to shoot as much as possible. Do they still make the 7 shot mags or possibly 10 shot ones?

925 and 795 take the same magazines.
So yes you can get 10 round magazines.
Yes they still have 7 rounders.

You are looking for "Post 96" magazines.
They have the cut in the side that allow them to be used in newer guns but they also work in older guns

That site usually has 10rd's for sale but they seem to be outa atm

I just saw one at my local Walmart last Saturday. I actually wanted another for my 925M which I happened to find on Ebay. There are plenty out there.

Thanks budd. I will grab that stainless one, I like the idea of some corrosion resistance and smoothness.

I'm currently gonna look for the 795 mags, hopefully in stainless too.

Actually, a lot of online sites have been backordered for 795 10-round mags for a while now. I've been puzzled why. I want to buy a 795 this Sunday, but the lack of available mags bothers me. Anyone know why they're backordered everywhere?

The ones at Walmart are for magnum. So far I have not seen any Marlin 22LR mags at Walmart unfortunately.

Are you sure you saw a 22lr magazine?

OP is asking about 22lr as far as I know.
You are talking about 925M which uses a different magazine.

This is the one that Walmart sells:

It will not work in a 22lr rifle.

I should have clarified if I didnt. 22LR, its not a magnum model or anything. That harder to find?

                      22lr

I'd double check but from what I read they work fine in 925's.

As far as I know since 1988 Marlin 22LR's both Bolt and "Self Loading" have used the same magazine shape.

                          But there are 2 variations:
Post 1988 also known as a Post 1996 (has cut in magazine)
and Pre 1996 (does not have cut on side)

Originally they did not have the cut on the side. Marlin made a rifle called the 70HC (High capacity) and it came with a factory 25 rnd magazine.

Then in fear of the Assault Weapon Ban and magazine restrictions they decided to modify their magazines and add a cut into them and a corresponding notch in the side of the magazine well on the rifle. Thus making their HC magazines not work in new rifles.

These magazines are known as "Post 1988 or as a Post 1996 " These magazines will still function in older rifles that do not have the magazine well notch.

Old non cut magazines will not function in new rifles.

That is why I suggest if you have an older rifle to still buy the newer cut magazines in case you buy a new rifle in the fututre it will work with it (Unless you find a super deal on the old ones)

For some reason Marlin bolt action rifles come with the 7 rnds and semi auto's come with the 10 rnds (But both rifle can each use either capacity)

                          There are:
                          Blue 7's Post 96
                          Blue 7's Pre 96
Nickel 7's Post 96 (There is possibly Pre 96's but I have not seen one)
                          Nickel 10's Post 96

Check out this post to read more about the cut in the magazines
Bought this magazine today for my 795 and my 70PSS. Notice what it says on the package. I compared it with some of the mags that I already have. No 3 below is the one I bought today. No 1 is a 10 rd 795 mag with cutout for the "bump" in the magwell. No 2 is the same except a 7-rd. From the...

Yes that is the 10 round magazine I have been talking about. That will work in a 70, 70p, 925, 795, XT-22 to name a few.

They are out of stock at midway too.

Not sure but I got 2 out of spec magazines the other month. They where way too thick I couldn't get it into one of my 795's and the other it was super tight and didn't want to come out.

My guess is they had a manufacturing issue and are working on correcting it.

Right on. Yea my rifle was post 96, I'd guess 2002 or later, it was a gift for a birthday.

Big 5 has the 10-round 22LR magazines if you want somewhere more local to get them, since they also seem to be out of stock online.
