    Scople recommendations for a CZ452

    Hey Guys,

I am looking for a decent optic for my CZ452, as you can see it looks pretty bare at the moment. The rifle is super accurate with iron sights, but I was to push it a little and start shooting out to 100 yards.

Since I am a bit new to optics I would want a setup that is pretty basic so I can learn the ropes. Since .22 is cheap, I figured this would be the best rifle to scope at the moment. So here is what I am looking for....

    - Decent quality scope that can shoot to around 100 yards

    - Would want a good eye releaf since I am new to shoopting with optics I dont want to spend all day looking for the crosshairs

    - Basic mounting and adjustments for signting in/removing would be nice.

If you have any recommendations or suggestions let me know.

    Thanks,

    Matt

The Lux can be scoped but with the shape of the stock you may find getting a good cheek weld a bit of a challenge. The second thing to be aware of when scoping CZs is that the bolt has to come up so high that clearing the scope requires careful placement of the scope and higher than ideal rings. The 452 has a built in rimfire scope rail but CZ was a bit weird about the rail size. Some of their models came with European metric rails (the majority) and a few with US sizes and you'll need to measure or double check with CZ just to be sure. Either way they run about $57/pair.

For the scope I recommend using a good quality scope (scope rankings) and not the Chinese made crap. My favorite for rimfires are Weave Classics. Their RV7 2.5-7x28 rimfire runs about $130 shipped online, their RV9 3-9x32 AO rimfire scope about $230 and their V16 4-16x42 AO about $350 if you shop well.

My old CZ453 with a Weaver T24 24x40 target scope. Note the CZ rings.

Have a CZ452 Trainer just like yours. I put a Shooters Edge 4-12X 40 (it's a re-badged Bushnell Banner) scope on it, don't think I spent more than $100 on it. The rings that come with the glass are not very tall and the scope clears the rear sight by less 2mm - it's just a perfect fit.
I have the rifle for 5 years now, shot over 1000 rounds on paper targets and took it coyote hunting several times. Scope is solid as a rock, and the rifle is a tack driver, one of my all time favorites.

Second recommendation for you is to use the heavier 20 grain bullet 17HMR hollow point rounds rather than the usual polymer tipped 17 grain, in particular if you shoot past 100 yards. I noticed 30% tighter groups, this rifle seems to prefer the heavier bullets over the standard ones.

Third recommendation is to buy an Eric Brooks trigger upgrade spring kit. It is an $15 DIY trigger job you can do in 15 minutes and it will increase the accuracy of your rifle dramatically.

Good post, I have an UltraLux and when trying to scope it the stock is a real challenge for a decent cheek weld. Another scope is the Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32MM AO that gets pretty good reviews on rimfirecentral.com. For the price I think the RV-9 that you recommended is an excellent choice.

Just need a smaller front objective for that hogback stock. My UL wears BRNO Target aperture sights and shoots as good with those @ 50 yds as it did with a scope.

Another option is the J & P Custom Products Ghost Ring sights. I purchased their three sight set and use the 3/32nds apeture on my Ultra Lux for general target plinking and varmint control out to about 100 yards. I really like the Ghost Rings alot - especially with the design of the stock; excellent cheek weld and target acquisition is fast.

As Izzy stated, the BRNO Target apeture sights are excellent as well.
