    M&P 15-22 different models

I am interested in purchasing a m&p 15-22, particularly a MOE. Being that I live in California, would I be able to buy a MOE model or is that restricted or not sold here? If not, which model is available to buy. I live in Santa Clara county, south of San Francisco. Does anyone know of a good store to buy from, with good prices and salesmen? Thank you in advance.

I believe your only 2 choices are: (others can correct me if I'm wrong)

    Model M&P15-22 - CA Compliant
    SKU #: 811032
    Caliber: .22 LR
    Capacity: 10 Round Detachable Magazine
    $549.00

    or

Model M&P15-22 - Performance Center, Fixed Stock
    SKU #: 170337
    Caliber: .22 LR
    Capacity: 10 Round Detachable Magazine
    $769.00

I bought mine at Bay Area Gun Vault in Mountain View on El Camino. They had both versions in stock and at least 2 of each. Gun Vault gets mixed reviews on Yelp but I've bought 3 guns from them and each transaction has been great. They can get busy so you do may have to wait a bit. Also they will not quote prices over the phone. Not sure why? I paid retail on my M&P 15-22 Performance Center from them. They have a HUGE selection of AR platform rifles as well compared to all of the others below.

Reeds in Santa Clara did not have either model at the time. I shoot there but have never bought a gun. Mixed reviews on Yelp.

Kerley's in Cupertino. Stopped in there this weekend. Tons of shotguns but only had 4 ARs and no .22lrs. Very pricey as well.

US Fire Arms in Mountain View also did not have either one. Great reviews on Yelp, but I don't think they had any .22lrs. Mostly high end ARs. Very nice guys there though. Very knowlegable and helpful on AR .223 platforms as I've been in twice now for info.

Imbert & Smithers in San Carlos did not have either model. Mixed reviews on Yelp. I bought a 870 from them and while the guy I dealt with was great, everyone else there is not so much. Old time hunters place.

    Good luck . . .

I don't know about current availability, but the MOE 15-22 was being sold in CA previously. Several people posted up about them here in this forum a couple years ago.

Here is an online dealer that shows in stock a CA MOE
      S&W 150877 M&P-15-22 Rifle .22 LR Moe 16in 10rd Black California
      http://www.tombstonetactical.com/cat...ck-california/ (btw, at 499.44 + shipping).

Another way to find 15-22 dealers is to go to the S&W site, use the find dealer function based on your zip code. Click on the model first, then use the search.

I have not seen the PC version of the 15-22. I know Reeds and Target Master carry the basic one.

MOE isn't restricted here. I bought mine at Turner's a year ago.You can have evil parts on your .22lr but still need 10 round mags.

I have found the basic model 15-22 on sale for $459.00 at Big 5 Sporting Goods. Is that a good price for the basic model and what add-ons might I want in the future The model number is 811032. Thank you.

My girl purchased the MOE version on December of 2011. I believe she paid $520 at our LGS here in San Diego, and FWIW the moe is worth the extra money.

Call Bay Area Gun Vault in Mt View. I got my MOE from them. The reason the MOE isn't compliant is the hi cap mag. They just swap it for a 10 rounder and you're good.

Yup, you're good to go. I believe Turners was selling them during last year's Christmas sale in SoCal.

That sounds pretty good to me. Under $500 is always nice No clue what you would want to add in the future, all you need is more mags! I've had mine for over a year and all I've added to it was some XTM rail panels since I don't use the quad.
