That's what I was thinking! The bore is bright with strong rifling, mechanically sound and a good stock. It needs a front sight that's 13 bucks (last guy removed it but left the screw in) and has one superficial spot of patina but I am tickled pink over it. I was about to drop 160 on a new one at wally world.

The first two digits of the s/n is 23 so by my calculations its a '77 mfg year. I didn't get any ammo 'cuz I've already dropped 3,400 on guns n ammo this year and my wife's threatened to feed me my testicles if I spent any more : ). I'm hoping its the 17 round tube if google is correct.

With the money you saved, you could buy an adjustable Tech-Site. Nice score.

Very cool! I love my Marlin model 60, even though it's a new manufacture ('03) with the 14 round tube. They're good, accurate guns.

What's the word on buying a gun from a pawn shop? A pawn shop near me has a Marlin Model #25 for $100 but I've never bought anything from a pawn shop before. Are prices negotiable? Also I would assume that the pawn shop is a FFL.

^^^^^This. I didn't and probably could have talked the guy down to 50 because of the front sight. However I've been looking for a glenfield 60 for a while.
